As convenient as the camera on your smart phone is, the picture quality is not as good as a digital camera or SLR camera. Don’t worry about being weighed down by them they are small, compact and will guarantee a sweet look back in time when developed.

"Pin Your Interests with Pinterest!"
by Sara Fingerman - GEM Magazine LI 6/15/12
Pinterest is a virtual pin board that lets Internet savvy users pin all things trendy and creative that they either find online or create for themselves. This social network can be defined as your inner artists dream! People are using this as a template on planning their weddings and bridal showers, posting zesty recipes and even decorating their homes. I even use it as a personal portfolio to showcase my writing.
Pinterest inspired crafts and party ideas:
Wine and Cheese Party: Freeze green grapes to keep white wine cold and make an exotic presentation for guests. Use chalkboard contact paper to display your cheese and wine pairing selections.
Planning a baby Shower? Hang balloons upside down on strings for décor. Make cranberry ginger ale punch with sherbet and put rubber ducky’s to float on top of it. Another cute DIY idea is to use an edible marker draw faces on “babies in a blanket” as an appetizer.
For the Home: Hang a chandelier in your laundry room or use wallpaper to make dishware stand out in your kitchen. Why not make a decorative birthday board and have all of the birthdays of your family hang from it in the colors of your home!
All of these ideas and decorating tips can be found on Pinterest.com. Sign up today, and you’ll feel as happy as you were as a child when your idea of arts and crafts was making lanyard key chains or popsicle sticks.
"The New and More Innovative MacBook Pro"
by Sara Fingerman - GEM Magazine LI 6/20/12
I have been on the fence about ordering an IPAD because it still doesn't have capabilities to download Microsoft Office, I enjoy my MacBook laptop but I'm running out of space and feel it may be time for an upgrade! Fortunately, just when you think the MacBook Pro couldn't get sleeker, sexier more user friendly, the experts at Mac did it again. Of course it was built with everyone's favorite apps such as IPhoto, IMovie, FaceTime, ICloud and ICaL, now it's even thinner at at just 0.71 inch thin and 4.46 pounds which makes for an extremely portable laptop!
If you are like me and take up to 1000 pictures a month why not have the capability to edit, enhance and view your photo's in the best light. A retina display with 5.1 million pixels, will not only make you feel like the picture is coming alive, it makes for easy editing. This will also come with all-flash architecture. Quad-core Intel Core i7 processors, the NEW MacBook pro is light years ahead of all of the other computers on the market. For more information please visit www.apple.com
"And The Daytime Emmy Goes To...
General Hospital"
by Sara Fingerman - GEM Magazine LI 6/26/12
Picture this, the year: November 16th 1981- a twenty something daughter is having a nice lunch with her mom when suddenly she comes to the realization that LUKE AND LAURA’S WEDDING on ABC’S GENERAL HOSPITAL is about to air in 15 minutes. The daughter quickly calls her father on a pay phone in a panic and say’s, “ Daddy, Luke, Laura, their wedding you have to record it, it’s going to be the talk of the week!“ Her father listened, became intrigued and automatically turned into one of General Hospital’s biggest fans. (A little secret Sassy Lowdown fans, those people are my family and I have been a fan since birth) NOW: Fast Forward to June 23rd 2012- Anthony Geary’s character LUKE is still on top of his game and continues to captivate audiences. General Hospital is now one of the longest running surviving soap opera’s and has no plans to leave daytime.
Congratulations General Hospital for winning 5 daytime Emmy Awards including:
Outstanding Drama series: “General Hospital.”
Lead actor in a drama series: Anthony Geary, “General Hospital.”
Supporting actress in a drama series: Nancy Lee Grahn, “General Hospital.”
Supporting actor in a drama series: Jonathan Jackson, “General Hospital.”
Drama series directing team: “General Hospital.”
"Phonagraphy: Mother Nature Appreciates
INSTAGRAM"
by Sara Fingerman - GEM Magazine LI 7-3-12
InstaGram is a new application designed to make pictures appear vintage in a magical way on your Iphone or Android device. In my travels, I have taken many pictures of sunrises and sunsets, beaches and mountains, just the rich scenery of different places in the world. I’ve used programs like Aperture and IPhoto to enhance them and make them look as beautiful as possible but it is much easier with Instagram.
I’ve sort of overlooked Long Island because we often don’t appreciate beauty in our own backyard. That is until I downloaded InstaGram. Now, I find myself taking pictures of the sky during twilight, the beach before sunset and even the early morning dawn before my daily commute. I use different filters to enhance them and get feedback from my friends and followers instantly.
Tip on sharing pictures # before sharing! One of my followers had over 40 likes by making sure each of her adjectives had a # before it. Example: #nature #walk #spring #Sun #rays #lights #beautiful #sky.
