As a new Mom, it’s hard to pull off an awesome hair day when you’ve got spit-up on you, you’re just tired from the sleepless night before, and you probably can’t even remember when the last time you felt a good lather in your hair. Don’t worry, here are some tips to help you through your day.

Pony Up: A classic pony is a great way to look put together in minutes and get your hair out of the way.

Dry and Go: Moms, need a hairdryer that will dry hair 70 percent faster than others? I highly recommend a tourmaline-infused hairdryer. They are a little pricier, but help new Moms get done faster when it comes to drying your hair.
If you really don’t have time for yourself and you want to cut corners, get yourself a dry shampoo or use good old fashioned baby powder at the roots, then comb through. It will cut grease away all day and add freshness to your hair. Don’t overdo it with the powder, though, you don’t want to look tired and grey.

Take time out to trim: Get out! It’s OK to take time for yourself as a new Mom. Book a sitter or a family member and go see your stylist. It will give you a chance to have your time and help you get over the “baby blues” that a lot of new Moms go through after the birth of their baby. I recommend you wait 6 weeks after delivery to have any chemical services done, but come in and get your hair washed, trimmed and blown out. You are allowed to think about yourself. It will only make you feel better, and give you a new sense of self.

Enjoy every moment with your baby, the time goes by so fast!

"On A Roll"
by Grazia Monda and Colleen White - GEM Magazine LI 5/21/12

Plug in hot rollers the minute you wake and let them heat up! Put them in and add a little aerosol hairspray. Do your makeup while you wait. Take them out and you’ll have a great look all day.

TYPES OF ROLLERS
• Sponge rollers use steam so they heat up fast and give you shiny curls in about 10 minutes.
• Ceramic infused rollers feature a ceramic core that produce ions and far-infrared heat to lock in the style and seal the cuticle, creating shine and eliminating frizzing. This type is great for damaged hair.
• Wax core rollers feature wax in the roller to hold the heat longer and make the curl stronger, which is ideal for curl-resistant hair types.

"Beautiful Curls"
by Grazia Monda and Colleen White - GEM Magazine LI 5/22/12

Curly hair lends itself nicely to a messy chignon. Flip your hair forward and add some spritz and twist to the nape of your neck and just add some quick bobby pins for a quick updo.

Diffusing curly hair is great, but never do it all the way, let it dry natural - it will give it a sexier look.
"Bump It Up!"
by Grazia Monda and Colleen White - GEM Magazine LI 5/25/12

Great for a quick look: grab the section of hair right at the front of your crown, making sure not to pick up side pieces. Backcomb it so you get some lift, spray the section with aerosal spray and pin it back for that quick “Snookie” look.

This hairstyle looks great on Ashley Tisdale!
"Turn Up The Volume!"
by Grazia Monda and Colleen White - GEM Magazine LI 5/30/12

Add volume to fine hair by not washing it everyday. Instead add some dry shampoo and blow your hair upside down. Your hair will look fuller.

When using a root lifter or volumizing spray, always spray at the root of your hair and then with your blow dryer nozzle attachment place the heat to your root area. This will give you the extreme fullness you want.

"Pony Ride!"
by Grazia Monda and Colleen White - GEM Magazine LI 5/31/12

Ponytails low ones high ones can look great in 2 minutes.

Add that headband if you wake a little late this summer.

Dry shampoo works great for quick volume classic baby powder in your roots goes a long way .
"Hello Bob!"
by Grazia Monda and Colleen White - GEM Magazine LI 6/1/12

Long hair don’t pass 8 weeks for your trims, short hair 4 to 6 weeks. If long hair is getting in your way a classic bob looks great in a gown or a pair of classic jeans.

Pool Safety
Leave your hair wet before going into a chlorine pool. If hair gets dry over the summer an overnight deep treatment can be applied at night and rinsed in the morning.

"Cover Up!"
by Grazia Monda and Colleen White - GEM Magazine LI 6/5/12

For very grey hair that’s a little towards the coarse side, try a warm olive oil treatment once a week and it will help be a little more workable. In between touch-ups, use mascara to hide those greys around your hairline, I recommended waterproof.

"Moisturize From The Inside"
by Grazia Monda and Colleen White - GEM Magazine LI 6/6/12

If you have oily hair, make sure you drink a lot of water. It helps keep your skin and scalp moisturized from the inside.

Extra Tip for Color!
Unless you have used a lot of hairspray, don’t wash your hair before color and if you do, just give a lite shampoo without touching your scalp.

"Great Summer Curls"
by Grazia Monda and Colleen White - GEM Magazine LI 6/12/12

During the summer, revive your curls during the day by misting with a leave in conditioner, and use a very wide rack comb to help maintain it.

For the summer, I also recommended using a leave-in conditioner every day after washing it for all kinds of hair, just not in the root area if you have fine limp hair. Only putting it on the ends is fine.

"Satin Pillows, Silky Hair"
by Grazia Monda and Colleen White - GEM Magazine LI 6/13/12

Sleeping on satin pillows will help keep your hair from getting matted, tangled and frizzy. Cotton cases tend to have a harder texture that can be rough on your hair.

Extra tip:
Biotin vitamins are a known fact to help your hair and nails grow.
"Olive Oil Works Wonders On Salad & Your Scalp!"
by Grazia Monda and Colleen White - GEM Magazine LI 6/25/12

Good old-fashioned dry scalp treatment is already in your pantry. “Old-fashioned virgin olive oil” works wonders on dry scalp. Warm it up, apply very little directly on your scalp, let set for 15 minutes, comb through with a wide tooth comb, and wash. You might have to wash twice, but that’s it! Works amazing the first time and if you feel you need more, once a week is fine.

"Scalp Treatments For Hair Growth!"
by Grazia Monda and Colleen White - GEM Magazine LI 7/2/12

A scalp treatment is the best way to make sure your blood flow and circulation are helping with your hair growth. This is highly recommended for men, but make sure it is your scalp that is getting treated and not just your hair. Go get a scalp treatment, or do it to yourself for about 10 minutes a day, and it will definitely help with growth.
