The Little Black Dress:
Transitioning From Boardroom To Cocktail Reception

You have an important business meeting in the afternoon then you have to run off to an elegant cocktail reception. You won’t have enough time to go home and change, so what’s a girl to do? The “Little Black Dress” (“LBD”) to the rescue!
Since Chanel introduced the LBD in 1926, it has become the epitome of style and versatility. It is a “rule of fashion” that every woman should own at least one simple, chic solid LBD that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Worn with a solid structured jacket, pearls and pumps, you will make a bold and powerful statement in the boardroom or at any business function. After your meeting, lose the jacket, throw on your sky-high heels and add an ornate chunky necklace with some popping earrings, and voila…fearlessly fashionable and ready for cocktails!
But how can you create these great looks without breaking the bank? You can find fabulous good quality LBDs at White House Black Market, Saks Off 5th, Nordstrom The Rack, Marshall’s and Century 21. For great trendy designer shoes (bright colors are hot, hot, hot) check out DSW and MJM and you can grab some of the best statement jewelry (at seriously discounted prices) at TJ Maxx. When selecting your jewelry, remember that a larger necklace usually warrants wearing smaller earrings, and matching sets can often be “too much” of a good thing. If you choose to wear very large earrings instead, consider a simple understated necklace or none at all.
For some extra glamour, stop by the local pharmacy and pick up some “Revlon Fantasy Lengths Self-Adhesive Lashes”. There’s no glue to mess around with and they are very simple to apply right over your make-up. If you haven’t had time to get a manicure, pick up a box of “Kiss Stick-On Nails” for an instant French Manicure and finish off your striking look with big, bold pink or red lips.
No matter where you go, wear your favorite LBD with confidence.
