Adriana Vater is Co-founder and Creative Director of the award-winning Spa Adriana, an Aveda lifestyle salon and spa in Huntington Village, which she established with her husband, John, more than 26 years ago. Since that time, she has worked diligently to build Spa Adriana into a thriving business and has leveraged that success into a platform for championing environmental issues and educating Long Island’s youth on environmental responsibility.
She established Spa Adriana to set an example of environmental leadership and responsibility. It is truly a green business, from the structure, fixtures, furniture, products and packaging to the high-touch skin and wellness treatments provided to clients. Under Adriana’s leadership, the spa has enjoyed a 10 to 15 percent yearly growth and was named one of the Top 200 Fastest Growing Spas and Salons in the Country by Salon Today.
Adriana Vater was also honored with the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Business Award by the Long Island Business News (2009), and named a Businesswoman of Distinction by the Huntington, NY Town Board (2005).
She is a frequent magazine contributor, offering insights on fashion and beauty. She attends Fashion Week NYC every season to gather info on the latest trends for editorial work as well as for her Spa Adriana clients.
Believing that the success of one business helps ensure the success of all businesses and the community as a whole, Adriana has created a strong network with neighboring shops, local schools and other community leaders to all work together to maintain a thriving Huntington, and Long Island.
She is also co-founder of Ceviche Tours, an ecotourism travel agency that provides sustainable ecotourism services to travelers visiting the Yucatan and Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Each year she works with environmental leaders to produce The Whale Shark Festival in Isla Mujeres, an event supporting the preservation of this marine ecosystem.
Adriana frequently presents at local schools to help students learn more about environmental responsibility and to promote the health and well being of the community.
A fierce advocate for women’s issues, Vater supports the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the 1 in 9 Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness, Huntington Hospital and The Hecksher Museum.
